The story behind the Louis Vuitton Noé bag

From champagne bag to fashion classic

In 1932, Louis Vuitton received a special request from a champagne house. They were looking for a stylish, but above all practical, bag in which multiple bottles of champagne could be safely transported. The result? The Noé bag.

The design was surprisingly functional:

- space for five bottles of champagne
- four bottles upright
- one bottle upside down in the middle
- a sturdy base to prevent breakage

- and a drawstring closure to keep everything securely together

What started as a luxury “bottle carrier” soon proved to have much more potential.

The birth of the bucket bag

Customers began using the bag not only for champagne, but also as an everyday handbag. The shape, what we now know as the bucket bag, was innovative, practical, and stylish all at once. In the years that followed, the Noé was produced in the recognizable Monogram canvas and grew into a staple within the Louis Vuitton range.

Today, the bag is still in production and has hardly changed. That really says it all.

Why the Noé is still so beloved

What makes this bag so special is the combination of history and design. It is not just a handbag: it is a piece of heritage.

- one of the first true Louis Vuitton handbags

- one of the first bucket bag designs ever

- timeless model that has remained relevant for almost 100 years

- practical and stylish

For lovers of vintage designer bags, the Noé is therefore a true must-have. Not only because of its appearance, but precisely because of the story you carry with you.
